A police raid at a Kentwood, Michigan hotel led to a total of twenty arrests after detectives discovered an online advertisement for an illegal topless poker tournament called “Angels of Game Night” that featured topless dealers and liquor.

“They were so open about it that it was really unusual,” Michigan Police Lt. Curt Schram said. “They put out fliers, advertised on Craigslist and were trying to bring people in by telling them it was all legal.”

Police surprised everyone in the conference room of the Kentwood Ramada Plaza Hotel, where they arrested a total of twenty people including four topless dealers, one of whom was completely naked. The poker players had the notion that this was a legal event, since the organizer was not collecting any percentage of the pot, and they never expected the raid.

“He assured me it’s a legal game,” said poker player Eddie Tauler.

“Told everybody there is nothing to worry about, it’s legal and to have a good time,” said poker player Patrick Daly.

The twenty people arrested were charged with “frequenting or attending gaming places”, which is considered a 90-day misdemeanor in the state of Michigan. From the conference room rented out for the poker event, police seized cash, poker chips, poker cards and other gambling paraphernalia.

The operator of the poker tournament has not been arrested yet, but police have identified the man and say that he is based out of Detroit. He has organized other poker tournaments in the past, with some of these being denied.

Israeli Sportsbetting Ring Taken Down by Police

Posted by: admin  //  Category: ACC, Ask, Betting, CA, CES, Casino, Extortion, Gambling, Object, Online, Other, SEC, Sports, Sports Betting, Visit, WAG, book, business, country, d, event, illegal, ing, israel, israeli-police, law, legal, money, online gambling, people, players, police, return, s, spa, sportsbetting, vegas, wedoitallvegas

The Israeli Police dismantled a massive sportsbetting ring on Monday, that had been in business since 2007 and involved over $90 million in earnings. The raid was comprised of over 300 local police and officials, with the homes of 37 people allegedly involved in the operation, raided throughout the country.

The investigation began over a year and a half ago, when officials and police suspected an Israeli man was operating the sportsbetting website betbet.us from inside the country. Connections with money laundering and organized crime prompted police to monitor the website’s activity and eventually take down the massive operation.

This pirate sportsbetting site was originally called bet555.net in 2007 and had allegedly received around 70 million visitors in its two years of operation.

The police sting on Monday brought in an estimated 10 million Shekels, vehicles and over 100 bank accounts, which have now been frozen by Israeli authorities. Gamblers who had visited the illegal sportsbetting sites and wagered from within the country have also been brought in for questioning.

Since online gambling in Israel is illegal, many people will go to great lengths to gamble and earn money from this business. Furthermore, sportsbetting sites that register players from Israel are at risk of being prosecuted by the Israeli government.

In statements made by police, online gambling is one of the main activities run by organized crime gangs in the country of Israel. Also stemming from the activity are such crimes as extortion, violence, tax evasion and police brutality.
