The Nevada Gaming Commission has approved the license applications submitted by subsidiaries of Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc. to own and manage the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on Las Vegas Strip. Now Harrah’s expects to consummate transaction and assume full ownership and operation of the Las Vegas Planet Hollywood beginning on February 19th, 2010.

Planet Hollywood is located south of Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino and will become Harrah’s seventh contiguous property on thenStrip. According to the Las Vegas Hotel and casino operator,  the Planet Hollywood Casino & Resort is expected to be fully integrated into Harrah’s customer-loyalty program, Total Rewards, during the second quarter of 2010.

It will enable our Total Rewards guests to earn rewards at another Las Vegas property, and enable us to reach a new customer segment. World-renowned animal adventurer and venomous creatures expert Donald Schultz, will spend 10 days on Las Vegas casino living in a glass caged with dozens of venomous snakes as part of a highly dangerous stunt titled “Venom in Vegas”.

Schultz started the stunt yesterday afternoon with 50 snakes and have five new snakes introduced into his enclosure every day until the count reaches 100. Schultz entered a clear glass box located outside O’Sheas Casino on Las Vegas Strip, where he will spend ten days and nights with 100 deadly snakes. The snake expert will eat, sleep and drink among a wide variety of poisonous snakes, including cobras and rattlesnakes in a 16′ x 20′ enclosure that includes a bed and tiny frosted-glass restroom, and several  cameras.

The stunt will be filmed as part of a two-hour special edition of Animal Planet’s new series Wild Recon and slated to air February 9th, 8 p.m. ET/PT. The show made its debut on Animal Planet earlier this month and chronicles Schultz’s adventures as he attempts to get his hands on some of the most dangerous and unwanted creatures on the planet.

During his ten-day stay, Schultz will work with the reptiles, extracting venom that will later  used for scientific and medical research. In addition, he’ll be conducting a series of tests to calculate the fang penetration, potency of each venom and strike range of some of the fastest and deadliest snakes on the planet.

“Venom in Vegas” is open to the public, the enclosure is located on the alley that sits between O’Sheas Casino and Margaritaville, directly across from Caesars Palace. Filming will be 24 hours a day and a schedule of educational presentations will also be announced this week.

Owners of Privé nightclub at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino and its sister club Living Room received a temporary extension liquor license last week  issued by the Clark County Business License Department and valid until April 9th, 2010.

According to Clark County officials, Privé’s owners have followed and complied all county regulations and requirements stated in September 21st  when Business License Department issued the club a temporary license.

The Las Vegas nightclub got its liquor license revoked in July, 2009, and remained closed for several weeks after Clark County authorities determined the club violated several terms. Planet Hollywood paid a $750000 fine to Nevada gaming authorities for the activities held inside the nightclub. Prive Las Vegas and Living room owners were cited for several violations, including allowing topless and lewd activity on site, over serving alcohol to patrons, dumping intoxicated customers outside the club’s area without supervision, violence and serving alcoholic beverages to minors. The club’s managers and other staff members were removed and ownership changed before reopening in September, 2009.

For the first time ever, Hip Hop mogul and music producer Diddy (formerly known as Puff Daddy, P. Daddy, P. Diddy) is extending his “Safe Rides” campaign to Las Vegas and will offer party goers  free pre paid taxi cards, courtesy of Ciroc Vodka.

The marketing promotion introduced in New York in 2008,  is an effort to make sure drinkers have a safe trip home after their celebration. According to a press release, CIROC teams will distribute the thousands of pre paid cab cards to adult consumers in New York City and Sin City on New Year’s Eve while supplies last.

Each individual debit card will be valued at $15.00 to pay for cab fare. Ciroc will also distribute MTA cards in NYC redeemable for a one-way subway or bus fare valued at $2.25. CIROC brand ambassadors will distribute pre-paid taxi cards at some of the most popular Las Vegas nightclubs and high traffic intersections as a way to drive the brand’s message of social responsibility this holiday season.

“New York stands as the world’s icon for a New Year’s Eve celebration and Las Vegas is the biggest party destination in the country. By bringing this program to both of these great cities we will continue to show the rest of the country that a sophisticated holiday celebration doesn’t end when the ball drops, but when everyone gets home safely.” said Diddy in a statement.

CIROC and the E! network teamed up to bring their “Drive Safe” campaign around the nation, including on-air spots that feature some of today’s hottest celebrities encouraging responsible decision-making and offering people a solution to find a safe ride home. Former NBA all-star Antoine Walker, reached an agreement with Clark County to repay more than $900.000 the debts with three Las Vegas casinos and avoid criminal charges.

The agreement was made by Clark County Chief Deputy District Attorney Bernie Zadrowski and Walker’s defense attorney, Johnathan Powell, and announced during a pre-trial hearing held on Monday. Las Vegas Justice Court Judge Melanie Andress-Tobiasson aproved the deal, and warned Walker about making the payments, saying that if as many as one payment was late or missed, she will send the case to a District Court.

According to the agreement, Walker will have to pay almost $13,000 a month over five years, totaling $905,050 in restitution and penalties, including a $135,000 cash bail  posted after Walker arrest in July, 2009 at a Lake Tahoe hotel. Walker was arrested for failing to pay gambling debts, which is considered a major crime in Clark county. The amount will also cover hundreds of thousands of dollars in casino debts with Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood Resort and Red Rock Resort and Casino and incurred between July 2008 and January 2009.
