Grammy Award-winning vocalist Steve Tyrell will return to the Golden Nugget Las Vegas for two limited engagements April 13-16 and April 20-24 in the Gordie Brown Showroom.

Known for bringing the standards from the Great American Songbook to life, the jazz vocalist will perform at 8 p.m. nightly as part of his 2010 performance schedule.

“We’re thrilled to have such an amazing vocalist return to the Golden Nugget for 2010,” said Justin McVay, Golden Nugget public relations manager. “We’re
confident Steve Tyrell will be as well received this spring as he was in 2009. He’s one of the best.”

Tyrell last performed at the Golden Nugget as part of his 2009 performance schedule in June, where he performed to sold-out crowds and received rave reviews by critics and audience members alike.

With his breakthrough performances in “Father of the Bride” and “Father of the Bride II,” Tyrell reinvented and re-popularized classic pop standards for a modern-day audience.  He recently produced Rod Stewart’s “Soulbook,” released in October 2009, and sang “New York Is Where I Live,” written by 15-year-old Clyde Lawrence, in the December 2009 motion picture “Did You Hear About the Morgans.”

In September 2009, his voice was also featured over the end title of Steven Soderbergh’s film “The Informant,” singing a new song written by Academy Award Winners Alan and Marylin Bergman along with Marvin Hamlisch.  Tyrell has produced hits for artists ranging from Linda Rondstadt to Grammy-winner Rod Stewart  (“Stardust…Vol. 3”, “Thanks for the Memories… Vol. 4) and has collaborated with numerous other artists like Ray Charles, Aaron Neville, LL Cool J, Blood Sweat and Tears, Dolly Parton, Bonnie Raitt, Burt Bacharach, Bette Midler, and Stevie Wonder, just to name a few.

Tyrell has also sold hundreds of thousands of albums and gained a passionate following all over the world with his hits like “The Way You Look Tonight,” “A Kiss To Build A Dream On” and “The Sunny Side of The Street.”

“Steve has worked with some of the biggest-named performers of the Twentieth Century, and we’re very excited to have him appearing again in our venue,” said McVay.

Show tickets start at just $29.95 plus applicable taxes and fees and are on sale now. Special VIP tickets are available for $79.95 and include a meet & greet with the artist. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Golden Nugget Ticket Office, over the phone at 866-9-GOLDEN (866-946-5336) or online at www.goldennugget.com.

Gordie Brown Live! will be dark April 3, as well as April 9-28.

At 06:30 local time, the phone rang and it was my father reminding me that the game would start in a few minutes. After a short chat, I got out of bed, put the kettle on, made some coffee and started watching the Red Devils take on the Sky Blue haters. It was funny seeing a huge banner at the Stratford End with just the number 33 printed on it - a beautiful reminder of the number of years since City won a trophy!

2010 WSOP Tournament Rules announced

Posted by: admin  //  Category: 2010 WSOP, 2010 WSOP Schedule, ACC, Articles, CA, CES, Casino, Entertainment, Events, Hotels, Inter, Jack Effel, Las Vegas, Las Vegas Events, News, Object, Online, Other, PLO, Poker, Poker News, Schedule of Events, Tournaments, Twitter, UNC, WSOP, WSOP Schedule, ads, article, b, biggest, book, bracelet, business, cards, d, dealer, dealers, director, drugs, eve, event, forum, game, gaming, gold, hot, hotel, information, ing, international, media, new, nfr, online gaming, person, phone, players, poker tournament, poker tournaments, president, race, regulations, rio all suite, rules, s, schedule, spa, tour, tournament, tournament rules, vegas, website, wedoitallvegas, world, world series of poker

Harrah’s Entertainment released the official rules for the 2010 World Series of Poker (WSOP) last week, and while no major changes were added to this year’s tournament series, the event’s organizers have included better definitions of some rules and incorporated revisions made by the Tournament Directors Association.

The penalty tracking system used in 2009 will be implemented in 2010. Penalties range from warnings to disqualification from the tournament and removal from the premises. Some of the infractions stated by the rules includes exposing hands, acting out of turn, removing chips from the table, abusive language, excessive celebration, soft play, throwing cards, dealer abuse, discussing the content of a hand and cell phone use. But even when the rules state that all cell phones must be turned off during play,  the WSOP regulations notes that “Players not involved in a hand (cards in muck) shall be permitted to text/email at the table, but shall not be permitted to text/email any other player at the table”. In addition, players who need to use their cell phones during the game must be at least one table length away from their seats.

Bad Hygiene has also been added as part of  the Player Conduct rules and will not be tolerated this year. According to rule 37, “Any individual who encounters behavior that is not civil or courteous — or is abusive in any way — is encouraged to immediately contact a Tournament official. This shall include, but is not limited to, any player whose personal hygiene has become disruptive to the other players seated at their table.”

The logo policy used last year will remains the same for the 2010 WSOP. Logos promoting drugs, handguns, lotteries, obscene material, pornography, libel, or advertises any online gaming site that conducts business with U.S. Residents will not be allowed at the tables (Only the .net versions).

“Poker has evolved exponentially the last decade, and with so many new players to the game, it’s important that we as tournament officials, dealers and players are all familiar with the rules. We believe that as the industry leader, it’s important for us at the WSOP to have the most comprehensive rules in the game today.” said Vice President of International Poker Operations and World Series of Poker Tournament Director Jack Effel.

The 2010 World Series of Poker will feature a total of 57 gold bracelets events taking place at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas from May 27-July 17, 2010.  Players are encouraged to download the PDF document from the official WSOP website and become familiar with the tournament’s rules prior to playing in any events. Las Vegas Hotel Mogul Steve Wynn Revealed as Buyer of $33 Million Rembrandt Piece

Posted by: admin  //  Category: 2 Million, Betting, CA, Casino, Dev, Encore, Hotels, Las Vegas, Las Vegas Real Estate, News, Object, Other, PLO, Poker Tips, Real Estate, SEC, UB, Wynn, YES, ads, article, auction, australia, b, book, career, d, days, dealer, family, forum, free night, gold, golden nugget, group, hot, hotel, impression, ing, las vegas hotel, london, mirage, mirage-hotel, modern, new, night, offer, people, phone, portrait, power, press, properties, rembrandt, s, spa, steve wynn, the mirage, the wynn, time, treasure island, update, vegas, vegas hotels, wedoitallvegas, work, wynn las vegas

It was about two weeks ago that the Rembrandt painting “Portrait of a Man, Half-Length, With His Arms Akimbo” from 1658 sold for a record $33.2 million at Christie’s in London and now the identity of the once-anonymous bidder is reported to be Las Vegas Hotel and Casino mogul Steve Wynn.

The Rembrandt portrait received a single bid the day of the auction, an anonymous telephone bidder for the amount of $33.2 million including fees to Christie’s. It turns out that the Las Vegas real estate developer made the call from his bathroom at 2:00 a.m. and became the new owner of the Rembrandt painting.

This purchase by Wynn exceeds another Rembrandt purchase from 2003, for which he paid $11.3 million. Wynn stated that he was going to add this painting to his collection because he wanted “people to see Rembrandt in relation to the Impressionists, post-Impressionists and early Modernists”

The Rembrandt painting hadn’t been seen in public in over 40 years, belonging to an heir of the Johnson & Johnson fortune during this time. The painting was first shown publicly in 1847, then sold at Sotheby’s in 1930 for around $89,000.

Steve Wynn is one of the most high-profile bidders at auctions these days with works from Rubens, Picasso Vermeer, Cézanne and others in his collection. During his career, Wynn has refurbished or built some of the most iconic properties in Las Vegas including the Golden Nugget, Treasure Island, Wynn, Encore and The Mirage.
